The Role
ChicknLegs is growing fast, and we’re looking for a Director of Business Operations & Planning to help turn company priorities into coordinated execution across the business.
This is a hands-on operating role for someone who can see the big picture and then get deep enough into the details to make sure things actually happen.
You'll work across Sales, Marketing, Product, Operations, Finance, and People to connect plans, identify dependencies, establish clear ownership, track performance, solve cross-functional problems, and keep the company moving toward its most important goals.
We’re looking for someone who creates clarity in a fast-moving environment. You'll ask the questions that need to be asked, dig into the data when something doesn't make sense, identify where execution is breaking down, and work with teams to get things back on track.
This isn't a role for someone who only builds plans or facilitates meetings. You'll be expected to drive execution.
What You'll Do
Company Planning + Execution
- Translate company goals and leadership priorities into clear operating plans, milestones, owners, and timelines
- Coordinate annual, quarterly, and ongoing planning across functions
- Establish operating rhythms that keep teams aligned around priorities, commitments, and results
- Track progress against company priorities and identify risks, dependencies, or execution gaps before they become larger problems
- Ensure decisions and commitments translate into clear ownership and follow-through
- Help leadership prioritize when competing initiatives, resources, or timelines create conflicts
Cross-Functional Operations
- Drive initiatives that span multiple departments and require coordinated execution across the company
- Connect Sales, Marketing, Product, Operations, Finance, and People around shared plans, timelines, and business priorities
- Identify gaps between teams, processes, or plans and drive issues toward resolution
- Clarify ownership when responsibilities cross functions or don't have an obvious owner
- Build processes and systems that improve communication, coordination, accountability, and execution as ChicknLegs scales
Business Performance + Data
- Establish and maintain visibility into the metrics that matter across the business
- Use data to understand performance, identify trends, surface risks, and determine where additional attention is needed
- Partner with functional leaders to define meaningful KPIs and ensure teams understand performance against goals
- Investigate when results don't match expectations and help determine what's driving the gap
- Translate business data into clear priorities, decisions, and actions
- Build reporting and operating tools that give leadership useful visibility without creating unnecessary bureaucracy
Strategic Initiatives + Problem Solving
- Lead high-priority projects and initiatives that don't sit cleanly within a single department
- Take ambiguous business problems, create structure around them, and drive them toward resolution
- Research and evaluate opportunities, operational challenges, and potential solutions
- Build business cases and recommendations to support leadership decisions
- Step into emerging problems when needed, determine what needs to happen, and coordinate the right people to solve them
- Help design scalable solutions rather than repeatedly solving the same problem
Leadership + Operating Rhythm
- Partner closely with the CEO and functional leaders to maintain alignment around company priorities and execution
- Help prepare and structure leadership discussions around decisions, performance, priorities, and roadblocks
- Ensure leadership meetings result in clear decisions, owners, and next steps
- Follow up on commitments and surface when priorities are off track
- Continuously improve how ChicknLegs plans, communicates, makes decisions, and executes
Ideal Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in business operations, strategy, general management, strategic planning, consulting, program leadership, or a related role
- Demonstrated experience driving complex cross-functional initiatives from planning through execution
- Strong business judgment and ability to understand how decisions in one area affect the broader organization
- Highly analytical with demonstrated experience using data and KPIs to understand performance, identify problems, and guide decisions
- Strong project and program management skills with exceptional follow-through
- Able to take ambiguous problems and create structure, priorities, ownership, and actionable next steps
- Comfortable challenging assumptions, asking difficult questions, and digging deeper when something doesn't make sense
- Strong understanding of business operations and how Sales, Marketing, Product, Operations, Finance, and People work together
- Experience building operating processes, planning systems, reporting structures, or organizational rhythms as a company scales
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Able to communicate effectively with executives while also working directly with teams throughout the organization
- Comfortable moving between strategic thinking and hands-on execution
- Able to influence and drive accountability across teams without relying solely on direct authority
- Strong judgment, ownership, organization, and attention to detail
- Experience in consumer products, apparel, e-commerce, retail, or another rapidly scaling business strongly preferred
- Experience working within EOS or another operating system is a plus
- Ability to work from our Raleigh, NC office
